This sweet miniature daisy is the first in a whole series of crochet flowers that you can use for ALL kinds of spring and summer crochet projects!

Crocheting is always about making something that we deem beautiful, and this crochet daisy pattern is no exception.

In fact, you could say that crocheting flowers like the free design I have for you today is especially beautiful because, well, it’s a flower!

Florals are a go-to for spring and summer for a REASON. Their beauty and beckoning color is inspiring enough to make designing the crochet versions easy. It’s been delightful to make a crochet flower which, in the case of this daisy, reminds me of the common wild daisies I see in the fields during the summer.

About This Crochet Flower Project

This crochet daisy, like all of the other florals included in this series, is meant to be useful for adding to any type of project you want. Originally, I created these designs for adding to a wreath, but they can be used for all manner of garments, home decor, and gift projects.

Some ideas to add crochet flowers to might include:

  • A colorful summer top
  • A baby blanket
  • A wall hanging
  • A hair clip
  • A basket or crochet bag
  • A crochet statement necklace
  • …and much more

Gauge

The official gauge for this project is 10 rows and 9 stitches for 2x2in using dk yarn and an e/3.5mm hook. However, I would like to stress that it is NOT critical to exactly match that gauge in order to have success making this flower(or any of the flowers in this series, to be honest).

You can easily create this daisy using other weights of yarn. However, I would personally recommend keeping your hook size small enough(compared to your yarn) that the stitches stay fairly tight, so that your daisy doesn’t turn out floppy and loose.

If you’re not yet familiar with gauge or want to learn more about getting the best results, check out this post about crochet gauge for lots of helpful information.

Sizing

Made with the yarn and hook size that have originally been used, this mini daisy is only about two inches in diameter. Feel free to play with using other yarn sizes and/or hook sizes to get flowers that are larger or smaller.

Materials Needed

For each mini daisy, you will need:

  • DK yarn- each daisy uses 1 yard of yarn of one color(for the center) and just over 2 yards of a second color(for the petals). For my flowers, I am using the Paintbox Cotton DK Yarn Line, which has dozens of gorgous colors.
  • An E/3.5mm hook
  • Scissors
  • A tapestry needle(optional, but good for weaving in ends.

Skill Level

This flower includes a few basic stitches and requires the ability to work in the round. Advanced beginners and beyond should have no trouble with it, but you can get a better idea by looking at the stitches used in the abbreviations list!

Variation ideas

Originally, I have created this crochet mini daisy (and all of the other designs in this series) using DK yarn. Feel free to use different yarn weights with this same flower, or try colors other than white.
