Remember the classic cartoon, Dumbo? This adorable little amigurumi elephant is inspired by his big ears!
Elephants have always been one of my favorite animals. They are cute, smart and have such a personality!
When I was younger, Dumbo was one of my favorite cartoons. So I decided to dedicate this adorable crochet elephant to this memorable movie!
With the big ears, and circus collar, this small amigurumi animal doesn’t take long to finish, and is the perfect gift to make for your little ones.
About The Project
This mini crochet elephant is a great project to make when you have some familiarity with crocheting amigurumis. What’s great is that it only uses one of the basic stitches, the single crochet stitch, so beginners will be able to get the hang of it quicker.
The challenging part of this project is making the elephant’s trunk. You need to make sure to count every stitch and it should match the specified counts as you’ll be working decreases.
If you’re a beginner, another part of this project is knowing how to create a magic ring. Like most amigurumi animals, you’ll be crocheting in rounds.
I also want to note that you will need to know how to sew, as this pattern does require you to sew the different body parts onto the main body.
And that’s it! I hope you enjoy making this adorable Dumbo elephant which uses medium weight yarn to give it that define textured look that is also very comfortable to hold!
Note: If you’re just starting off in your amigurumi journey, and want a starter project, then I would recommend my adorable crochet cow as your first project! After completing this pattern, you’ll gain more familiarity and confidence to take on this project next.
